Namaste,
Yoga
is an essential element in my life, and my practice inspires me to connect
deeply with my true self, as well as increase my mind-body connection, which
helps me to be more present. I am inspired by the unique spark of life in
every person, as well as the unifying natural life force that is the same in
every person. When I teach, I
strive to create a safe space that inspires people to re-connect their mind and
body, and have an engaging, peaceful experience that will nourish them long
after they get off their mats. I
use guided meditations and relaxation exercises to facilitate the deepest level of relaxation and presence.
I
felt completely at home when I went into my first hatha yoga class in 1998 at the
Himalayan Institute, and continued my studies while I was in massage school in
New Mexico with Kim Schwartz, completing Iyengar teacher training with him in
2001. I soon became inspired by the teachings of
John Friend and Anusara Yoga, and enjoy studying with Dorie Silverman, and Rita Knorr in Chicago. I
completed a 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training course with Global Yoga and
Wellness Center in 2009. I also
resonate with Gary Kraftsow’s teachings and incorporate viniyoga techniques
into my practice and my teachings. I am also a certified Self-Breema Instructor and incorporate Self-Breema and the nine principles of harmony into my yoga teachings. In 2010, I visited and studied in many
ashrams in India to get a sense of the deeper aspects of yoga and meditation
and realized I will be a student of yoga for the rest of my life.
